Faith Healing Bible Church began not as a plan — but as an obedience.
In 1987, Pastor Francis A.M. Mambu returned to Freetown, Sierra Leone following a divine call to service. On his first night back, the Lord instructed him to embark on a twenty-one day period of fasting and prayer. At the conclusion, he received a clear mandate: "Go and reach out to the lost souls, heal the sick, cast out demons, and set the captives free, for My people are perishing."
On June 27, 1987, the fellowship visited Connaught Hospital in Freetown and prayed over 30 patients awaiting surgical procedures. When they returned on Monday, 27 of those patients had been completely healed and discharged. Only three remained — those who had already undergone surgery before the prayers. It was an undeniable testament to the power of God.
On July 26, 1987, Faith Healing Bible Church was officially inaugurated with 15 members at Model Secondary School in Freetown. The church subsequently relocated several times before establishing its permanent headquarters at Walmsley Lane, off Berry Street in Freetown. Today the congregation numbers in the thousands.
The ministry now operates branches across Sierra Leone and internationally in Liberia, The Gambia, Nigeria, Canada, and the United States — including our DMV chapter here in Alexandria, Virginia, serving the West African diaspora community.
To go out and reach the lost souls, heal the sick, cast out demons, and set the captives free — fulfilling the Great Commission through the power of the Holy Spirit in the DMV area and beyond.
To build a thriving, Spirit-filled congregation in the DMV area that serves as a beacon of hope, healing, and transformation — connected to the global FHBC family and deeply rooted in the local community.
Ordained, anointed, and committed to serving God's people.
The founder and General Overseer of Faith Healing Bible Church worldwide, Pastor Momoh Mambu received the divine call to ministry in Freetown, Sierra Leone in 1987. Under his leadership, FHBC has grown from a small Bible study group of nine members to a global ministry spanning six nations.
His unwavering commitment to the original mandate — healing the sick, casting out demons, and setting the captives free — continues to define the character and culture of every FHBC branch, including our DMV-USA chapter.
